Essential crag checks
Access, closures, permits & safety
Enter You Yangs Regional Park from 5 Branch Road and use established visitor routes. The Flinders Peak approach starts at Turntable car park; consult the official visitor guide before choosing a climbing sector.
Arrive early on busy summer weekends and public holidays. If Turntable car park is full, use the overflow car park at the Lower Picnic Area instead of creating an informal space.
The park is open daily from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm, including weekends and public holidays. Gates close at 8:00 pm during daylight saving; follow any posted area or road closure notices.
Summer heat and crowds can affect access, so arrive early and carry adequate water. The natural environment is unpredictable; assess climbing risks and consider a licensed guide if local knowledge is limited.
Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
