Freycinet and Coles Bay Climbing Area

Turn from the Tasman Highway (A3) onto Coles Bay Road (C302), 12 km south of Bicheno. Continue through Coles Bay for 28 km from the highway to the main park entrance and visitor centre, then use established park tracks for the selected granite climbing sector.

Use the established Wineglass Bay Walking Tracks Car Park or other signed visitor parking serving the chosen sector. Drinking-water taps and toilets are available at the Walking Tracks Car Park, but water is scarce elsewhere in the park.

A valid Tasmania parks pass is required and drones are not permitted in the national park. No park-specific closure was displayed on the official park page when checked on 3 August 2026; recheck official alerts immediately before visiting.

Approaches cross steep granite and loose gravel, and the coastline includes hazardous cliffs and unpatrolled beaches. Wear sturdy footwear, supervise children, carry sufficient water, secure food from wildlife and check weather and sea conditions before climbing.
