Essential crag checks
Access, closures, permits & safety
Use Forest Road 06 from the Sierra Meadows side of Truckee. From the established parking area follow the old forest-road trail and the marked wall approaches over the ridge, usually about 15–30 minutes.
Use the established dirt parking area along Road 06 when the road is legally open. If the upper gate is closed, the specialist notice permits parking legally at the gate and hiking; never drive around a locked gate.
Forest Road 06 has seasonal gates controlled by the Forest Service. Call Truckee Ranger District at 530-587-3558 for present road status; hiking from Highway 89 crosses private land and is not an alternative without permission.
