Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

From the parking vicinity, take the pine-tree path left of the toilets rather than the main Desolation Wilderness trail. Continue via the old road and uphill path, then the talus; the specialist guide estimates about ten minutes.

Parking

Parking capacity, fees and road access can change. Confirm current conditions before departure.

Permits & access rules

Safety

The final approach crosses talus. The right side faces east and typically shades around noon; the southeast-facing left side stays sunny longer. Routes range into difficult overhanging terrain, so choose a route and descent appropriate to ability and equipment.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.

About this crag

From the Eagle Creek Canyon parking vicinity, take the uphill approach through the pines and old road, then the path and talus to the wall. The right side loses sun earlier than the left, so aspect matters when choosing a cool- or warm-weather session.

Recommended equipment

Bring equipment appropriate to the climbing style and local conditions. A helmet is strongly recommended.
