Access, closures, permits & safety
From Bear Gulch Day Use Area, use the marked climber access toward the reservoir and The Sisters; consult the linked area guide for the final spur to Second Sister.
Park only in marked spaces at Bear Gulch Day Use Area or another designated east-side lot. NPS notes that lots can fill; the east and west entrances have no connecting road.
NPS reports that all 2026 climbing and raptor advisory areas reopened July 6. Check current advisories and onsite signs before visiting; east-side trails have day-use access, with no overnight parking outside the campground.
NPS warns of loose rock and long runouts at Pinnacles. Wear a helmet, assess anchors and rock quality, and climb with a partner.
