Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

From the appropriate Icicle Road pullout, use the path past Mad Meadows toward the Playground Point cliff bands. Use the sector guide to identify the correct cliff or boulder and stay on established access paths.

Parking

Use a signed Icicle Road turnout or designated trailhead. The Forest Service describes a recreation pass requirement for parking in the watershed; confirm the current pass and roadside rules.

Permits & access rules

The 2025 Icicle area emergency closure was rescinded. Seasonal raptor protection can affect Bridge Creek Wall; check current Forest Service notices and keep outside any posted exclusion.

Safety

Icicle granite ranges from bouldering to multi-pitch cracks and slabs. Verify the route, landing or protection, and descent; keep clear of loose rock and swift water.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
