Access, closures, permits & safety
Identify the correct trailhead and descent before leaving the Valley or high-country road. Seasonal road openings, shuttle operations and construction can change approaches. Overnight big-wall climbing requires the current wilderness climbing permit process.
Yosemite Valley parking often fills early during peak periods. Use designated parking and park shuttles where available, and never stop in signed no-parking pullouts or road shoulders. Seasonal road closures can remove access to high-country areas.
