Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

The Crags guide describes a 30–60 minute uphill approach depending on formation. Use the public-land path from the Lily Lake area and the formation guide for Treasure Island; avoid private parcels.

Parking

Lily Lake is an outlying Rocky Mountain National Park parking area. From May 22 through October 12, 2026, a timed-entry reservation is required for arrivals 9 a.m.–2 p.m.; display the reservation on the dashboard and carry a valid park entrance pass.

Permits & access rules

NPS planning material identifies the Lily Lake parking area as access to Jurassic Park and US Forest Service lands. Check current park entry rules, signs and land boundaries before the final approach; do not use a closed route or cross private property.

Safety

The Crags are high-elevation granite and gneiss with a substantial uphill walk. Watch for weather changes, loose talus and hunting activity on the south side in fall.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
