Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

Plan the approach to The Torso with the linked formation guide and the NPS trail map. Use the appropriate park entrance and signed trails; the east and west entrances do not connect by road.

Parking

Use a marked park lot for the chosen trailhead. NPS warns that parking can fill and there is no road connecting the east and west entrances.

Permits & access rules

NPS states all 2026 raptor advisory areas reopened on July 6. The local climbing organization also reports all formations open. Recheck both advisories and bulletin boards because wildlife restrictions can change.

Safety

Pinnacles rock can be loose and protection may be widely spaced. NPS advises climbers to assess rock and anchors carefully, wear a helmet, and plan a safe descent.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
