Essential crag checks
Access, closures, permits & safety
From US 395 north of Bishop, use the Paradise/Swall Meadows exit and Gorge Road. The first central-gorge approach follows the gated power-station road downhill; another descends a loose gully above climbs.
Park completely off the pavement at the appropriate Gorge Road access point without blocking gates. Overnight parking or camping at access points is prohibited in the guide's access notice.

Many routes now have long lower-offs requiring an 80-metre rope. Check each route and secure rope ends; dislodged stones from the steep central approach can strike climbers below.
Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.

About this crag
The specialist guide warns that numerous re-equipped routes require an 80-metre rope for lowering. Treat this as a route-specific rope-length check, and consult current local access notices before travelling.
Recommended equipment
Bring equipment appropriate to the climbing style and local conditions. A helmet is strongly recommended.
