Essential crag checks
Access, closures, permits & safety
Enter the Mount French section of Moogerah Peaks National Park and use the official Mount French and Frog Buttress map to reach the northern-facing Frog Buttress cliff line. Stay on formed tracks and prepare climbing equipment in a safe area away from cliff edges.
Use the designated Mount French car park beside the vehicle-based camping area. Frog Buttress camping is close to the walking tracks and day-use area; camping is limited, requires a permit and should be booked in advance.
There were no current park alerts when the official pages were checked on 3 August 2026. QPWS has no approved anchors or bolts here, and installing, replacing or modifying fixed protection without written authority is prohibited.
Frog Buttress is suitable only for experienced, well-equipped climbers or people under their direct supervision. Existing bolts and anchors are used at your own risk; avoid wet-weather climbing, rockfall exposure and solo climbing, and carry emergency communication and first aid.
Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
