Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

Plan the sector using the public GPS-enabled bouldering map and the reservation's established paths. Great Woods Road gives broad park access; Penny Brook Road is an alternative for south-side sectors.

Parking

The specialist mapping project recommends the Great Woods Road main lot, or Penny Brook Road when visiting the south side. Use the mapped lots rather than improvised roadside spaces.

Permits & access rules

Safety

Expect coarse, sometimes sharp granite and uneven wooded terrain. Check each landing and descent rather than assuming a short boulder is protected by a flat landing.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
