Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

After the Inner Walls fork, locate the west-side cliff group rather than Grandeur Buttress. Use the sector guide to identify the correct cliff or boulder and stay on established access paths.

Parking

Use the Lower Town Wall or Wagon Wheel lots for town-wall sectors, or legal Crescent Street parking for Lookout Point. Keep every wheel off Reiter Road pavement and do not block town access.

Permits & access rules

Washington Climbers Coalition notes that Index may have spring falcon nesting closures. Check the current notice board across the tracks and obey any route-specific closure.

Safety

Index granite can be wet or mossy and routes may have long runouts or difficult descents. Inspect anchors and fixed gear, avoid wet rock, and plan the descent.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
