Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

Navigate to the Horseshoe Canyon Ranch Trading Co. rather than directly to a cliff coordinate. Check in, obtain the day-pass wristband and current ranch map or directions, then use established ranch roads and trails to the selected sector.

Parking

Use the Trading Co. main lot or the parking assigned at check-in. Camping roads are steep and can be rough gravel; additional campground vehicles use overflow parking at the Trading Co.

Closures

Access can change for weather, events, maintenance or ranch operations. Confirm the official site and Trading Co. instructions before visiting, especially during major climbing events.

Permits & access rules

Self-guided climbing is covered by the day pass and waiver. Guided climbing is booked separately through the ranch; organized groups should contact the operator for current requirements and rates.

Safety

Sandstone climbing, bouldering and remote ranch terrain involve falls, loose rock and delayed rescue. Wear a helmet, inspect fixed hardware, use an appropriate guide or map, carry water and first aid, and choose objectives within the group's experience.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
