Access, closures, permits & safety
Turn into Right Hand Fork and follow the Hobbit Caves approach from a legal turnout. Use the sector guide to identify the correct cliff or boulder and stay on established access paths.
Use the legal signed turnout or trailhead identified for this specific crag; do not block Highway 89, Right Hand Fork Road or forest gates.
The Forest Service identifies rock climbing as a Logan Canyon recreation use but protects Maguire’s primrose with route closures; the specialist guide reports 21 closed climbs. Confirm the exact open route and current ranger-district alerts, especially around the 2026 Blind Hollow fire area.
Limestone routes vary in bolt age, length and rock quality. Inspect anchors, wear a helmet, and verify the route and descent in a current climbing guide.
Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
