About this crag

Eongtto Waterfall is a dry waterfall set against the backdrop of a small lake at its base. We climbed it in December 2023. To the left of the waterfall, accessible from the ground, we discovered 4 to 5 sports climbing routes ranging between 6a and 7a grades (approximate grading). It's important to note that some routes presented an additional challenge as moss-filled cracks and accumulated dirt hindered hand placements. The rock, while generally solid, may feel a bit dusty and there were places that entire chunks of rock came off in your hands. Climbing Grades: 6 - 7 Type: Rock Climb Style: Sport

Before you visit

While a couple of old rusty pitons hinted at the climbing history of the area, caution is advised as one of them fell apart during our climb. On a positive note, newer bolts seemed secure and reliable. However, it's crucial to be aware of the anchor situation. Two-bolt anchors spaced approximately 30-35 cm apart were equipped with old ropes forming a traditional "death triangle." We opted not to use these anchors and strongly advise against their use. We rappelled off the fixed bolts, using the death triangle ropes as insulation from the hard surface of the bolts, but we would recommend bringing some bail-biners to permanently leave at the anchors for those to come. This would not only made your own descent safer but better for those to come as well. We regretted not bringing our own. Beyond these technical aspects, Eongtto Waterfall was a really enjoyable climb with a beautiful view.
