선운산 속살바위

About this crag

Mostly overhanging limestone rock. Some of the routes offer up friendly jugs, while others only provide the small crimper or slopper. A good majority of the climbs are 5.11 and 5.12. There are a handful of beginner climbs and 5.10s. If you head to the large boulder to the right of the main wall you will find some easier climbs. Behind the main wall, about a 5-8 minute hike is the 'Wind Tunnel'. The place looks like a cave where the top has been ripped off. Most of the climbs on these walls are 5.12 or 5.13. On summer days you can find some pretty hardcore climbers putting up routes back there. Climbing Grades: 8 - 13 Type: Rock Climb Style: Sport

Getting there

Head to Seonunsan Provincial Park. Follow the main road in all the way to the small resevoir (about 20-30 minutes). Follow the road over the resevoir to the right and you will come to a metal staircase. Go up the stairs and follow the trail to the right. When you come to the Mun Bawi junction, continue heading right. After about 5-10 minutes you will see a white sign that says (in Korean) Soksal Bawi. Take a left there and follow that trail for about 5 minutes to the base of the climbing wall. To get to the Wind Tunnel, follow either trail that leads to the left or the right of the Soksal wall. Basically, the Wind Tunnel is on the other side of the wall.

Parking

Head to Seonunsan Provincial Park.

Before you visit

Although lots of people climb this area, there are still lots of small loose rocks on the climbs. Be careful if you are hanging out below a climber.

Recommended equipment

Take about 15 quickdraws and a 50 meter rope. Some popular routes have quickdraws on them that live there year round. This is very convenient if you think you might not be able to finish the climb.
