About this crag

Mun Bawi is a sharp limestone face with plenty of small "pockety" holds; and although the face is contaminated with moss, it doesn't appear to be a very big deal. There is a single 5.11b layaway crack. There are no dramatic overhangs to speak of. All fifteen routes are very well-bolted climbs. Climbing Grades: 7 - 11 Type: Rock Climb Style: Sport

Getting there

Follow the same directions to Soksal Bawi; however, just past the steel staircase above the reservoir hook a left at the "문바위" sign. The trail will dip down to the reservoir, cross a small creek(bed) and run up alongside the creek(bed) for roughly five minutes. Your keen climber's sense will lead you to the base of the wall.

Before you visit

The rock is a bit on the rotten side; pebble size chunks may fall, so bring your helmet. Crimpers have been known to pop off. The bolted anchors vary from nearly excellent to "iffy" due to the active corrosion of the steel cable clamps. The abseil rings or hooks appear safe enough, but some, again, on the "iffy" side.

Recommended equipment

A minimum of five quick draws and a maximum of twelve quick draws are required for the longest route, respectively. A sixty meter rope would be best here, although a fifty meter rope will just barely sufice. A full rack of friends might be fun to explore the crack that runs adjacent with to the 5.11b route. Extra slingage and a few extra locking carabiners may come in handy for the top-ropers.
