Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

Follow Forest Road 44 north from El Rito. At the 248 junction remain on FR 44; the sport approach is near the FR 44A turnoff, while the traditional sector uses a later unmarked side road.

Parking

For the traditional sector stop at the approach gate and park on the permitted side without blocking access. The rough final road may require leaving a lower-clearance vehicle earlier and walking the remainder.

Permits & access rules

access_notice_requires_review

Safety

Watch for nesting raptors and leave a wall if birds become agitated. Forest roads and the traditional-sector side road require a vehicle and walking plan appropriate to actual conditions; do not pass closed gates.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.

About this crag

The traditional approach includes rougher road beyond the main forest road, and lower-clearance vehicles may need an additional walk. Respect nesting birds and avoid any signed closures rather than interpreting the regional pin as permission for every wall.

Recommended equipment

Bring equipment appropriate to the climbing style and local conditions. A helmet is strongly recommended.
