Essential crag checks

Access, closures, permits & safety

Access

Use the Pine Canyon approach from the Castle Rock Road side and the linked formation guide for the final walk to Deliverance Rock. Stay outside posted closures and on permitted trails.

Parking

Park only in the designated Pine Canyon/Castle Rock Road access area. The state park asks visitors to use marked parking and check current road and gate conditions.

Permits & access rules

The state park’s 2026 nesting order closes Castle Rock and adjacent land each February 1 through July 31. This date is outside that seasonal window; check current postings before entering because separate closures may still apply.

Safety

The local climbing guide warns that this sandstone is fragile when wet and some fixed protection is old. Avoid wet rock, inspect anchors and carry adequate water.

Closures and permit rules can change without notice. Recheck the official land manager before departure.
